What To Expect After Getting Porcelain Veneers
Porcelain veneers can be a life-changing investment for you when you consider cosmetic dentistry. They are a great solution for people who want to instantly and dramatically change their smile. What Happens at Home?

The Immediate
It is not uncommon for some people to experience some tooth sensitivity to hot and cold for a few days after getting their veneers. This is because approximately 0.5mm of your tooth’s enamel was removed before the veneers were placed. This discomfort should go away within a few days.
The porcelain shells are only as thick as a contact lens, but they require you to get used to them. Your front teeth may feel different in texture against your tongue or when you talk. Overall though, these veneers are considered comfortable.
The Near Future
After about a week, you should have a dentist appointment for a checkup. While you may feel confident in your veneers, it is still important that you come. It will allow your dentist to check the gum tissues around your veneers and ensure no irritation or other complications. This is also the time you would bring up f you had any problems with your new veneers as well.
The Long Term
Veneers can last anywhere from seven to twenty years. You will have to keep coming in for your regular check-ups. If you have any changes to the tooth structure or the surrounding gum tissues, you may need to check your veneers. These situations may cause your veneers to need rebonding.
You should care for your veneers just like you would your natural teeth. This means that you should brush and floss regularly, come in for your regular checkups, and not using your teeth as tools. While the veneer is resistant to decay and staining, the tooth under it is still susceptible to cavities and other problems. It is why you should always come in for your regular appointments to ensure that your teeth are doing okay, and should any problem arise, it is taken care of quickly.
